We perform fast and professional scanning of
slides, 35mm negatives and pictures in Topsham Maine. All
images are subject to pro Adobe color correction.
These simple slide shows feature moving
pictures that are broadcast quality (540 lines per inch), Dolby Digital surround sound, and are
stylized after the Ken Burns TV series on PBS called "The
Civil War". The movement
however, is smooth, not jittery as created on consumer grade
products and many claiming to sell "high quality" photo slide
show software. We also add professional sound track music free. Or,
simply include your own music and we will use that - free of
charge.
Post them to the web free for limited time
with most orders. See a
sample free web posting on your account page.

Ben says,
Thanks for the
great service. If I want to make some large prints you gave me
plenty of resolution. Look forward to sending you all my old

We have been working professionally for
over three years and have produced a wide variety of videos.
Our state of the art lab produces video quality that rivals a
rented movie in sound track quality, video picture and
stability as well as menus and labels. Many in the video
industry have become complacent with the status quo and have
produced the same video for each client. We produce a unique
and personal video for each of our clients. We are passionate
about our work, and our work is our proof.

How affordable
is that? Here is a real life example: 2,000 slides at home on a consumer scanner and a
typical Dell PC would require, at 600 DPI, a minimum
resolution for TV (not printable, it is too low), approx 80
seconds per slide, or 160,000 seconds, or 2,666 minutes or 44
hours. it also presumes you have no fatal computer crashes
during this intensive use of a machine. Or, for $0.12 times
2,000 slides, or $240, you can work a few extra hours at your
day job and get it done for 15% as many hours. We can do it
fast using 6 scanners at once on 6 editing PC's. Test our
summary. Ask at Best Buy or Circuit City how long their
scanner will take to pull a 1,200 DPI or 600 DPI image. Bring
a slide in and ask them to scan it live, in front of you, so
you can time it. Use a
calculator in the store, multiply the seconds by the number of
your slides. Divide by 60, then divide by 60 again. This is
the number of hours you are looking at.

Why would you want to get all your
slides onto DVD or picture CD's?
Slides decay
in the same fashion home movies do. Water vapor and dust
attach themselves to the exposure of the slide and cause
damage. Tiny reactions with the material used as the base and
water molecules, OHO, Hydrogen Hydroxide, nicknamed H2O, cause
acids to form inside your slide. The base of the 35mm slides is
made of a material far more
resilient than typical 8mm film from say 1950, but the damage
occurs every day regardless. Putting slides and pictures and
photos onto DVD or picture CD ensures a long term and
permanent solution to archiving important family treasures.
Some day your children or grandchildren will be getting
married and they will be looking forward to reminiscing
through these old treasures with you. Don't let them
disappear. For further reading, see our
articles. They are fully
researched, footnoted and include links to sources such as the
U.S. Library of Congress.
Many put this
off because they think they can do it at home, or in many
cases, they bought a scanner and computer 5-6 years ago with
the plan of scanning their pictures and/or slides. In most
cases, the slides and pictures still have not been digitized.
We can actually get this done for you at a great price. To
scan 1,000 pictures at home might take 60 hours, but we can do
it at a fraction of the time due to large numbers of scanners
being operated at once. Your time is likely too valuable to
sit for 2 days scanning. We also have access to state of the
art photo repair codecs in Adobe Photoshop. As part of a "put
slides and photos to dvd" package, your pictures are repaired.
From color to tint to cracks to mold.
Putting slides
and photos onto DVD or picture CD's is easy and fast. Click on
a form above and get started today before more decay occurs
with this heat and humidity this summer.

BEFORE/AFTER |
|
We can remove cracks and slight water damage from your
prints as well as state of the art restoration of faded slides
and transparencies. Don't let the only shots of your dad, or mom, or
grandparents remain at the bottom of the pile never to be
seen. Make them new again for TV. See some more before and
after shots from real orders to put slides and photos on DVD.
BEFORE/AFTER
What
do I send?
Send the whole album as is! Just
make sure the pictures are not glued in. If they can come out

send the whole thing! We will scan them as they appear in your
photo album and add notes and text is appropriate. It is
that easy!
Our movies are great for -
- Christmas
- Birthdays
- Graduations
- Weddings
- Growing Up videos
- Funerals
- Anniversaries
- Promotions
- Retirements
- and more

Can I do this at home if I have a scanner? (and lots of
time!)
Yes. Creating a simple consumer grade photo show can be
done for free. It is recommended that you scan 10 pictures
with a stop watch and time the scanner and computer you are
using. Divide the seconds by the number of pictures you
scanned, and multiply this by the total number of potential
pictures to be included in your movie. You will be surprised
how much time it can take just to scan them in, let alone set
up a movie file in a video editor! In fact, 500 pictures
scanned on an inexpensive $80 scanner and a typical 1GZ
computer, at a resolution of 2,400 DPI would require over 5
hours alone (approx 40 seconds per slide and letting your
computer batch them to save). We can scan at a much faster
rate using 4 lightning fast 2.8GZ Hyperthreaded computers each
running Windows XP Pro and one high quality Epson Scanner
each.
You do not need to buy software from
www.dvd-photo-slideshow.com or
www.photo-to-dvd.com
for $29.95, or any other company's software package. Download
the free windows
MOVIE MAKER II for windows and follow our tutorial
(Tutorial avail April 20, 2005) . You will be able to produce
consumer quality video good for some applications. Though not
simple and very tedious to learn, it is a good way to get your
pictures on the TV as a basic plain movie if you cannot afford
to use a professional service. Most professional editors that
produce picture based movies can use stunning expensive
special effects, make layers transparent and float over other
pictures, create moving objects that scroll towards you,
banners, moving text, as well as produce in high quality
sound, or like us in Dolby Digital Surround Sound and more.
