FUNERAL/HEIRLOOM VIDEOS

Time of need
When you have a parent or child that has passed away, the last thing you want is to have so many things to do that you lose precious time with family. We will sift through your pictures ad slides and home movie footage to produce a growing up video.  Use narration, read old letters, use 8mm film, old slides, photos etc. We can generally produce these videos within 48 hours, although more lead time will result in better editing.

Typical projects include starting from 250 slides or photos, 100 feet of old home movie film, narration allowing you to tell the family stories, readings from old letters  to the deceased, and more. We offer two simple packages to accommodate everyone's intention and budget.

Why?

  1. Enjoy old family
Ties during the week people get together are renewed, do not spend it all wrestling with cheap consumer video programs and trying to trouble shoot windows.

  2. Treasure for grandchildren
These funeral videos prove, time and time again, to be a valuable asset to grandchildren. It affords them the opportunity to  meet a grandparent, or great grand parent, in a unique special way.  What a better way to archive family history and stories than in DVD video! Put the time and effort into your mom or dad's memories to create a stunning growing up video. They are stunning when shown at their funeral on a large screen and using a surround sound system. Take the opportunity to present a state of the art professional tribute video.

Narrate the story
We will incorporate whatever you have available, to include LETTERS written from family members to the deceased. The video to the left included adult children and grandchildren reading letters. The letters were on screen gently scrolling up as they read. Professional background music was layered underneath to augment the effect.

Our movies use images that scroll around and have gentle movement. The panning movement is guaranteed to be in true broadcast TV format - no jitters typical from consumer grade software or underground companies. In funeral homes, the screens used are massive. Slide shows like these authored on consumer grade software usually creates jitters you cannot see on a small TV, but can see it clearly on a huge 8 ft screen. We produce funeral tribute videos in true High Definition Dolby Digital surround sound. What you will see is the same quality viewed on the History Channel.

NARRATE THE STORY - This is a tremendous feature we offer.  Simply send us notes or a finished script after contacting us for details and a man or woman voice can professionally narrate for you. . Or, borrow or rent a good microphone and record your own dictation or letter readings. You will need an XLR to 1/4 inch adapter found at Radio Shack and an adapter to go from 1/4 inch to mini to plug into your PC microphone plug. Use your own software to record. Check with your PC vendor or search online for shareware programs to record dictation. Send us the WAVE file it creates on a CD. Windows Media Player 10 has the ability to record from a microphone. SUGGESTIONS TO GET YOU STARTED

OLDER GENERATIONS

  • Make a date with some of the relatives. Ask them about what their childhood was like. Have them recount the stories about their childhood, education, friends, memorable events and more.

  • Based on these stories, go to some of the places that were recounted from the relatives or older generations. Get the old tree, or house or car on video. Don't forget to narrate in some form what each is as you film it.

  • Let the older generations introduce family members and friends to the camera

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FOR OLDER GENERATIONS:

  • What is your earliest memory?

  • What was a typical dinner like in the 1920's? (example)

  • What were the cars like, and how many were around?

  • What was it like to live through the revolution into technology?

  • How did you meet your spouse?

  • Where were you in an important date and how did it effect you? (murder of Kennedy, Space shuttle columbia disaster, 9-11, etc)

  • How big was you first house and where was it? Can you describe the neighborhood.

YOUNGER GENERATIONS

  • Capture or find footage of their first day at Kindergarten

  • Film them while just interacting with friends or visiting in the living room, or watching TV. Candid moments,

  • Don't forget to get footage of Prom, major sports and music events, and graduation

  • Once every few years, set up a camera and ask them to converse about their lives. What are they up to at work, or at school? Friends, hobbies, interests.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FOR YOUNGER GENERATIONS:

  • What do you want to be when you grow up?

  • What is your pets name, describe him/her.

  • Who is your favorite teacher in school?

  • What classes are you taking?

  • etc

BASIC CAMERA SHOOTING TIPS

  • Learn how to use your camera. Sound funny? Consumer reports in a 2001 article on camcorders said upwards of 80% of footage shot in 2000 was from owners that only knew how to turn it on and off.

  • Do not shoot more then 3-4 minutes at a time with the same angle. Hit stop, and move your physical proximity.

  • Watch out for background noise. Make sure you are not whispering to a neighbor during a shoot of a birthday party. Your whispering will be MUCH louder on TV than the cheers and laughter.

  • Turn off the camera when done. This is a wise habit to start. Many times people tried to turn a camera on to find they left it on and the batteries had run out of charge.

  • If you do not own a tripod, BUY ONE. If you cannot afford one, press the camera up against a wall, or corner, or brace the camera into your arms with your elbows pressing gently into your legs, or side. You need to keep the camera steady.

  • The more you ZOOM in, the more sensitive the TV screen will show slight jiggling.

  • Bring extra batteries is you can

  • Put the video onto DVD or Data DVD's as soon as possible to preserve the fresh original footage before it fades or gets damaged

Good luck filming families!
