Public Speaking Anxiety Tips
Ideas for a Matron of Honor speech?
I’m not asking anyone to write the speech for me because I really want it to come from me, but I’m partially at a loss for what to say. My mom asked me to be Matron of Honor at her wedding, and shortly after I agreed to make a toast and give a small speech over a microphone. I have Public Speaking anxiety, but she’s my mom, and I want to make it special since it’s a one time deal.
So anyway. What sort of things should a speech like that focus on? How long should it be? I’ve never been to a wedding before, so I’m pretty much clueless. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated. I want to at least look like I know what I’m doing.
You don’t have to have a long speech, about a minute to two minutes is usually ideal. You focus on your mom and what she has meant to you and what your future step-dad means to you too and how happy they are together. Light humor is always appropriate too. At the end hold your glass up and say here’s to the bride and groom! Don’t stress too much no matter what you say, as long as it’s from the heart will be well received! Hope this helps.
